BCA in clash over lottery

A WAR OF WORDS is developing between the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) and video lottery operator CAGE (Barbados) Limited.

The BCA is charging that CAGE has consistently defaulted on agreed payments over the past three years and has defied instructions to desist from operating a lottery under its licence.

CAGE, however, has countered by saying the BCA breached its obligations, had no grounds to terminate the contract to operate video lottery terminals (VLTs), misrepresented the facts and failed to respond to a proposal for an amicable settlement.

In the latest annual BCA report, lottery chairman Deighton Smith addressed the issue.
