THE BARBADOS COMMUNITY COLLEGE (BCC) has hit back at the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW), accusing it of spreading false information about staff cuts at the college.

In a strongly worded statement, BCC principal Dr Gladstone Best denied claims of the NUPW that the institution was terminating staff by not renewing contracts of temporary workers.

Best said the college had done no such thing.

“The Barbados Community College has not terminated any workers as stated by the NUPW. Management of the College has informed the two major workers’ representatives, NUPW and the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU), that it will be meeting with them in the very near future to discuss cost reduction at the college,” he pointed out.
