ICBL Empire made light work of ESAF Pickwick but Wildey, after shooting out Caribbean Alliance/Akobah Gardens Foundation for a paltry 65 were forced to dig deep before prevailing by 66 runs to open their account.
AT PARAGON: The “Sports Programme” posted the highest total in the Zone – 255 all out – before holding YMPC, facing a revised target of 202 in 36 overs, to 201 for nine.
Antonio Greenidge (84) with assistance from Dario Boyce and Mario Rampersaud, who both got 49, spurred the hosts to their challenging total while visiting, left arm spinner Nkosi Ross returned figures of five for 49.
Opening bat Stephen Blackett led YMPC’s response with a well-compiled 50.
AT DAYRELLS ROAD: Brathwaite and the promising West Indies Under-19 batsman Jonathan Drakes featured in a 155-run third-wicket partnership after Maple invited the home team to bat.
The Wanderers skipper notched up 103 off 135 balls while Drakes’ knock of 84 was made off 95 balls. Both batsmen stroked 10 boundaries as seamers Khalid Springer (4-44) and Kirk Brome (4-48) shared the wickets.
Maple never mounted a serious challenge and were dismissed in 43.3 overs for 161 after their target had been revised to 244 from 47 overs.
Wanderers’ trio of swing bowlers Jerome Stuart (3-19), Diego Stuart (3-44) and Ian Bradshaw (2-27) were the chief destroyers.
AT?WILDEY: Caribbean Alliance/Akobah Gardens Foundation were left to rue dropping Wildey topscorer David Carter on no fewer than three occasions having reduced their seniors to 29 for five in defence of the meagre target.
Carter (27 not out) was the only batsman to reach double figures and had the pleasure of stroking the winning run in Wildey’s hard-fought victory.
Khary Pierre (3-8), Dakari Louis (2-10), Brandon King (2-12) and Marlon Hoyte (2-22) combined to demolish the school boys, who won the toss.
The match was reduced to 47 overs-a-side after a stoppage for rain during the first innings.
AT?BANK?HALL: Pacer Tennyson Roach (4-26) and left arm spinner Jomel Warrican (3-26) sent ESAF Pickwick crashing to 86 all out in 27 overs to set up a facile seven-wicket win for ICBL Empire, who responded with 89 for three.
Yesterday’s results left four teams – Wanderers, Maple, Empire and Pickwick all on eight points to be joint Zone leaders.
