The Barbados Labour Party (BLP) is ready to rumble on February 21.

Political leader and former Prime Minister Owen Arthur last night said his party was confident of a win at the polls, and would wage a serious campaign battle, taking nothing for granted.

“We are confident, but not yet triumphant,” a careful-sounding Arthur told the MIDWEEK NATION moments after Prime Minister Freundel Stuart revealed that election day would be February 21, and Nomination Day next Wednesday.

Arthur said: “We certainly can’t say we’ve been caught napping. The Barbados Labour Party will benefit from being given this opportunity to do all its work in good time,” the MP for St Peter added.

Even if the BLP does not win let us get rid of Owen and hand the reins to a younger more capable and flexible individual. Mia should be in charge. The people of St Peter deserve better. Nigel D.

Posted by collin green 3 months, 3 weeks ago: We the people of St. Peter are not the type to discriminate based on age, rather we tend to remember and show gratitude to those who have been good to us. We don't change just for change sake . That is why this country is broken the way it is now.
I know some of you won't like this but the way the electorate treated the BLP five years ago is not much different to the way some families treat their elder folk in this country, they send them off to an old folks home or just downright abandon them and as the old folk would say "God don't like ugly"

Why are all these other people in this photo? Please relegate them to the background and let the newer candidates be seen.

Posted by collin green 3 months, 2 weeks ago: Its not a case of what he did for the people of St. Peter, its more about what he did for the country as a whole. The fact that Barbados was the envy of the caribbean speaks volumes. At one point we were the focal point for migration within the region. Its not hard to imagine why the Trinis considered Barbados the go to island for invesment. Further more, any new investment in Barbados is being done in anticipation of the return of the great one
