About 500 members of the Barbados Boy Scouts marched through Bridgetown yesterday in celebration of the centenary of scouting in the island.

The march began in Pelican Village and ended at Queen’s Park, after passing the Cenotaph, where the Scouts saluted both the monument to the fallen soldiers of World War II, as well as their scouting leader Chief Commissioner Dr Nigel Taylor, who took the salute.

The theme for the centenary is Celebrating Our Scouting Heritage while March had been designated Scout Month.

As part of the celebrations, there will be national camps in all the scouting division in July, as well as some concerts and excursions.
