BMEX boom

Close to 15 000 patrons attended this year’s Barbados Manufacturers’ Association Exhibition (BMEX) and these exceeded of most previous years.
Barbados Manufacturers’ Association (BMA) president Ian Pickup made this observation during BMEX’s prize giving ceremony.
“The standard of exhibits was really good. It was well promoted and well organised and a tremendous success.
“I think the improving standard of the exhibits is one of the things that helps to bring more patrons into the show,” he said.
During the event held at Building Number 8, Harbour Industrial Estate, St Michael, the BMA awarded three top executives for their outstanding contribution to themanufacturing industry.
Managing director of Super Centre Ltd David Neilands, managing director of Matrix Marketing Randolph Sandiford, and chief executive officer of Beverages Caribbean Inc. Ray Chee-a-Tow, were recognised during the prize giving ceremony for BMEX 2010.
Alicia Carrington of Leacock’s – The Home Source collected the exhibitors’ prize of a bathroom vanity compliments A P Solutions valued at $2 500.
Meanwhile, three lucky patrons won door prizes.
George Collymore won the first prize of a kitchen makeover valued at $7 000 sponsored byBMA and A P Solutions.
The second prize of an entertainment centre made by Greaves Furniture Ltd was awarded to Brian Gibbs.
Also, Trudy Farley received the third prize of $2 500 in art and pottery from Art & Stage Inc. (NB)
