Board rapped

PARENT REPRESENTATIVE: President of The Alexandra School’s Parent-Teacher Association, Carl Benskin, making a point to the Commission of Inquiry yesterday.

Tue, July 10, 2012 - 12:03 AM

The president of the Alexandra School’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) yesterday accused the board of the school of being in continuous conflict with principal Jeff Broomes.

Carl Benskin, himself a board member, also told the Commission of Inquiry into developments at the school he felt board chairman Keith Simmons was at times unreasonable in his dealings with the principal.

But the PTA chief vehemently denied he came to the inquiry with the sole purpose of supporting Broomes and maligning Simmons.

He said his sole concern as president of the PTA was that students should be taught and be part of a satisfactory classroom environment.

I am not a believer in inquiries like this one as in a majority of the cases these findings end up like the last one, on somebody's book shelf catching dust, but since we have it i would like to know why is Mr Carl Benskin being accused of coming to the inquiry in support of Mr.Jeff Broomes?? i thought that in a Democracy one had the right to support whomsoever one wanted to support for whatever reason. if Mr.Simmons feel that he is being Maligned in anyway he can testify also and give his side of the Conflict to the Commission. is that not why witnesses are being called????
