The Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA) is maintaining a tight grip on bandleaders and show promoters’ movements as the 2014 Crop Over season kicks into high gear this weekend.
And yesterday, BRA officials showed just how serious they were about getting those involved in entertainment to comply with their tax obligations to Government, as officers descended on several band houses.
President of the Barbados Association of Masqueraders (BAM), Chetwyn Stewart, confirmed to the DAILY NATION last night that he too had been questioned by BRA officers.
“I don’t understand how you could wait the day before Foreday Morning and a number of bandleaders have been calling me complaining.
“Bandleaders, particularly Foreday Morning bandleaders, have been calling me about the fact that the people came at the last minute to tell them they have to come down to register their bands,” he explained.
