The unfortunate circumstances leading to four-year-old Kevio Rivaldo Morris’ death last Saturday might have been avoided if his grandmother Ellen Bourne’s home was not broken into. Mother Shanna Bourne-Knight told the DAILY NATION yesterday it was only because of the police’s presence at the Breedy’s Land, Christ Church home that Kevio and other children ventured away from the house in order to make room for lawmen to investigate the burglary.“He (Kevio) was not roaming. Because of the police’s presence the children had gotten restless and went for a walk in the park,” Bourne-Knight said as she reflected on how her wedding day turned tragic with the death of her only child. The grief-stricken mother said she was receiving support from several church organisations including the Welches Christian Mission Church where she and husband Mark Knight were married.Kevio’s father Dwayne Morris, 42, of Lower Carter’s Gap, Enterprise, Christ Church described his only child’s death as “just too much”.“There’s no word I can used to describe how I feel. We were very close – he was my everything and I was his everything,” he said.According to Morris, his son was very active and particularly enjoyed car-racing and football.Meanwhile, police are still conducting investigations into the tragedy.Kevio’s body was discovered at the bottom of a pool at the Peach and Quiet Hotel, currently under renovations.A post mortem is expected to be conducted later this week.
