AFTER NEARLY A DECADE as a blot on Barbados’ West Coast, the former Regent Hotel at Vauxhall, St James, is to be demolished, as well as the former Chefette Restaurant in Holetown.
The two buildings situated between the posh Sandy Lane Hotel and Holetown in St James are to make way for a luxury homes project that its British developers said would also recreate a “window to the sea” – once a feature of the area.
Though no figures have been given for the level of investment expected to be pumped into the project, a Press release from the principals over the weekend said “developer BABS, in conjunction with two of London’s foremost property developers, Nick Leslau of Prestbury and Bruce Ritchie of Residential Land, will be carrying out the projects”.
The former Chefette Restaurant was reportedly purchased for more than $20 million, while the Regent was bought after years of legal wrangling. (GE)
