Encore for Buggy Nhakente at Bajan Night
Sun, April 29, 2012 - 12:03 PM
The first and only encore of the night during the Bajan Reggae Night of the Barbados Reggae Festival came during the final performance of the second-to-last-segment of the show.
The performer was Buggy Nhakente. By then, about 12:30 a.m., over 2000 patrons would have converged on the grounds of the Kensington Oval.
Following his magnificent performance, the increasingly growing popular artiste told the DAILY NATION he was "overwhelmed" by the response of the crowd.
"Wow! Bajan Reggae Night is great. I love the crowd's response . . .," said Buggy who is currently working on his second album for the year.
During his performance the crowd was whipped into a frenzy rocking and singing pieces of his more popular songs including Changes.
Throughout the night light intermittent showers did not stop the growing crowd pressing closer to the stage as some of the more popular artistes did their routines. Performers such as Biggie Irie, Simon Pipe, Hotta Flames and LRG were also in the third segment of the show.
Also performing was West Indies cricketer Sulieman Benn, who also had the crowd rocking when he entered the stage at approximately 11:30 p.m. And performed for less than his allotted five minutes.
Some patrons said they believed some of the artistes should have been allotted more time on stage. (MM)
