The trade union movement today said a farewell of sorts to outgoing head of the Barbados Workers Union Sir Roy Trotman.

The occasion was the opening session at the union’s Harmony Hall, St Michael complex, of the 73rd Annual Delegates’ Conference, the last one the veteran trade unionist would have addressed as general secretary.

Minister of Labour Dr Esther Byer Suckoo and former general secretary of the Barbados Secondary Teachers’ Union Patrick Frost were among those paying tribute to the former member of the House of Assembly who has held a number of key posts in the international labour movement.

Delegates were voting today to elect one of two women (Toni Moore and Veronica Griffith) shortlisted to replace Sir Roy as general secretary. (TY)
