IT IS BACK TO the negotiating table tomorrow for the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) and telecommunications company, LIME, after talks were suspended just after 11 p.m. on Tuesday night.
Making the announcement, Minister of Labour Dr. Esther Byer-Suckoo said the talks, which she is chairing, will reconvene later in the evening after Cabinet.
The marathon talks started on Monday evening after 4.30 p.m.
Going into those deliberations, the Labour minister had said a settlement would have been reached in the ongoing wages impasse between the Union and LIME.
The BWU had been asking for a 17 per cent increase for workers at the telecommunications company, while LIME has been holding its ground at seven per cent.
This led to the discussions stalling at the level of the Chief Labour Officer, Vincent Burnett, three weeks ago.
During yesterday’s talks that position changed slightly, with LIME moving their offer to 7.5 per cent.Â
