Call for early ADHD screening

THERE IS A CALL for early screening for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Director of the ADHD Resource Centre Al Layne is recommending that children be screened for ADHD as soon as they enter primary school, because early intervention can make a tremendous difference.
ADHD is a group of behavioural symptoms that include inattentiveness, hyperactivity and impulsiveness. Common symptoms of ADHD include a short attention span, restlessness or constant fidgeting and being easily distracted.
Layne stressed that while the condition was not difficult to treat, the outcomes were not good if cases were not caught early. (YB)
