STREAMLINED CARE for women dealing with gynaecological cancers still needs a shot in the arm, say specialists in the area.
And a purpose-built gynaecological cancer and prevention unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) as well as a dedicated day for cancer surgeries are just what the doctors want.
“We are proposing a gynaecological cancer and prevention unit at the QEH which would be another centre of excellence, providing cancer care and preventative to prevent below-the-belt women cancers . . . ,” gyneacologic oncologist at the QEH, Dr Vikash Chatrani, said yesterday at the Press launch for the Sagicor Globe-athon walk and run, held at Sagicor Life’s Wildey, St Michael offices.
“What we are trying to do is . . . centralise the care of all these below-the-belt women’s cancers in one clinic, which we are doing, but we want this clinic to be purpose-built, dedicated to just this . . . .”
