Social partnership has to move to another level in a country that has to rekindle its community spirit, because it has lost its way, says Reverend Mark Harewood.
Harewood made the call in a passionate sermon at the annual May Day service of thanksgiving under the auspices of the Barbados Workers Union (BWU) at Solidarity House yesterday evening.
Before a gathering that included Acting Governor General Elliott Belgrave, BWU?general secretary Sir Roy Trotman, Barbados Tourism Authority (BTA) president David Rice and Barbados Secondary Teachers Union (BSTU)?chief Mary Redman, Harewood said he would like a social partnership embodying the parents, teachers, children, and their need to bond as a people.
Harewood, pastor of Love And Light Ministry, called for young people to respect the elderly, companies to share their profits with their staff, and for employees to give a fair day’s work. (MK)
