Captain Sully could reward punters

Former?Gold Cup runner Reward Me will put his sublime form on the line today in the Kabul Handicap over 1 800 metres at the Garrison Savannah.
The Sir David Seale-owned horse, who has won four of his last six starts will throw down the gauntlet to five other horses that have been consistently racing at a higher level.
Keen interest here in this race for three-year-old and older horses rated 95-77 and also open to horses rated 76 and below will be the performance of the Bill and Haley Blevins pair of Janak’s Gold and Little Man Arran.
Janak’s Gold has been unplaced only once in his last six runs which includes a pair of wins and third place finishes. In the case of Little Man Arran, his record against horses rated less than 100 is outstanding and he will have a say in the outcome.
Indanger ran a decent race before falling last outing but should be watched. Cinnamon Jane can be considered while Indian Officer’s tailing off is reminiscent of finding the North Star.
Sprint races are usually won or lost at the start but the afternoon’s penultimate event has the makings of a riveting affair as there is an equal distribution of speed and stamina.
Controlling the speed in this event for three-year and older horses rated 70-50 at the time of entry is Boo, who though making the step back up in the ratings is going after a hat-trick of wins. Further testimony to the trainer’s intentions is the booking of leading rider Anderson Trotman.
Sugar Loaf Peak, another speed merchant is also on a hat-trick trail having earned consecutives seconds. Powerman flashed some speed four starts back when he was burdened with top weight but although his form has diminished, today’s penny stamp with the apprentice claim can enhance his chances.
Broken Vow will display her early toes upfront but the major question is a lack of class and stamina. Byhookorbycreek, a reasonably fast mare in her own time makes a welcome return to the track after more than a year absence. It will be fair to assume that she will be in need of the gallop.
Flying South has showcased some speed and has been able to see out his races well but when pressed for that little extra he will need to find plenty more with today’s weight of 126 pounds. Danny Crane no longer shows the speed he used to possess. He seems more at home now running from off any torrid pace and could still factor in the equation.
Captain Sully, at the top of the weight ladder is my pick to land this event considering he is more of a miler but has shown his versatility whenever he is asked to sprint.
Nomoreginrog will come with his usual late burst but whether he arrives in time for the party celebration is up to his rider. Cabin Boy’s form is not encouraging.
My Picks
Race 1: Double Jeopardy
Race 2: Eric Ashby
Race 3: War In Gunsite
Race 4: Jamaica Moon
Race 5: Vitality
Race 6: Janak’s Gold
Race 7: Captain Sully
Race 8: Wingman
