HAMILTON – The Under-20 boys’ 100 metres, mired in dispute since the final was run on the very first day here at the 2012 LIME CARIFTA Games was not re-run yesterday evening.
Following a further appeal by The Bahamas, Jamaica’s silver medallist Jevaughn Minzie was disqualified and all of the athletes advanced by one place.
Jamaica’s Jazeel Murphy kept the gold medal with his 10.33 seconds, while Bahamian Shane Jones and Anguilla’s Zharnel Hughes, both of whom had 10.41 seconds, were second and third, respectively.
Barbadian Deon Hope was sixth overall after hobbling over the line with an injury.
Minzie was disqualified for a false start, even though the race wasn’t recalled. (SAT)
