Cheating boyfriend wants me back

Dear Christine,

I have a really serious problem, I hope you’ll help me with.

I am in my early 20s and have been friends with a guy for almost three years. He gives me everything I need – although I am working. Sometimes he treats me very badly by cursing and hitting me.

I recently discovered that he was going out with my best friend and that she is pregnant for him.

Christine, I really like this guy a lot, but I broke off the friendship because of his unfaithfulness.

He keeps calling me and coming at my home asking me to take him back.

He says he is still in love with me. My parents really appreciate and like him a lot as well, but I am confused and not sure what to do. What’s your advice?

I have always been faithful to him, but I broke off the relationship because I do not want to be hurt again. I am sure he will be taken up with the baby when it is born and I am not willing to put myself through that hurt and stress all over again.

Dear Very Confused,

I believe that you have made the right decision and you should not allow this cheater or your parents to make you change your mind. In fact, I admire you for the decision you have made and for thinking ahead about the future.

This man has cursed you and hit you more than once and he needs to be kept out of your life. How dare your parents try to make him a part of it!

This girl whom you thought was your best friend is not your friend at all, and I hope that while you should find it in your heart to forgive them both, there’s nothing written in any book which says, you have to befriend them all over again.

Let go of this episode of your life and look ahead to a bright future with someone who will love, respect and be faithful to you. There are still men of that type to be found. You really do not need to be part of any complicated relationship. Move on and don’t look back.
