Vowing that the children of Alexandra will not be short-changed, Prime Minister Freundel Stuart says he plans to bring a swift end to the raging teaching impasse, making decisions “without fear or favour”.
Stuart described The Alexandra School dispute as “unfortunate”, saying the issue, which has engulfed the entire country over the last two weeks, had dragged on for much too long.
The dispute was topic A yesterday morning at a service of thanksgiving in honour of Barbados’ first Prime Minister and National Hero Errol Barrow at St Lucy’s Parish Church.
Before a standing room only congregation, which included Cabinet ministers – among them Member of Parliament for St Lucy Denis Kellman, former MP Evelyn Greaves, members of the Senate, and Alexandra School principal Jeff Broomes – the man at the centre of the storm, Stuart said it was the children who were suffering.

hmmmm indeed that was not the forum to bring up that situation it is true that he has been brought in and it is true that he must speak to the issue but a church service in the honour of the father of independence is not the place to address such issues not to mention in the presence of Mr Broomes and without the presence of the other complainant it could call his impartiality into question and possibly create questions and doubts after he provides his resolution…..cha boy simple things, simple lessons in etiquette and leadership sometimes are forgotten in the heat of a crisis how unfortunate

Comment LinkI think you will find Mr Prime Minister that a whole generation of children has been disadvantaged by this saga for the last 5 years already.
However if you intervention will resolve these ongoing issues the students especially the 5th form class at Alexandra will welcome your input.

Comment Linkhate to say this ,but i don’t like where this is going.. The outcome of this crisis needs to be solved by due process and not by public opinion.. sometime in the early nineties Ebony magazine ran an article declaring Barbados as the freest black nation in the world,and more recently Andrew Young former UN ambassador agreed that Barbados was the best managed black country.This is a result of our democratic process, Mr. prime minister this is not the time to prove anything to those who seek to undermine the process for political gain. The nation news has a hidden agenda. unlike fox news in the united states that openly backs and delivers spin to the republican party,the nation news does the same for the barbados labour party.but they pretend that they are not biased..Truth is BAD BOY BETTER THAN NO BOY AT ALL, SO I APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE A MEDIUM TO VOICE MY OPINION,but as pan wallie commented ,why do they not print his comments even though there are not derogatory…truth is if its a strong point that may gather the attention of readers it does not show up,or if it do,it doesn,t get much play{highlight in the comment }

Comment LinkAS I sit and watch the saga unfold before me, my heart weeps for the children, who will feel lifeless come summer and their exam results resemble that of someone who got left back in 3rd form. Who will answer the questions come exam time?
