Elections are in the air!

And Chris Sinckler, Minister of Finance and Member of Parliament for St Michael North West, has been reminding his constituents of his work over the past five years.

He is doing so through the distribution of more than 5 000 copies of a “performance booklet”  with pictures and captions of projects undertaken.

“What gives us great satisfaction is that . . . we have not only been able to do more in five years than the BLP [Barbados Labour Party] did in 15, but we have been able to touch the lives of many people in a very positive way. And the best part of it is that the work has only just begun,” he told the WEEKEND NATION. (MM)

With only a 2.9% swing required to topple Sinckler in a national swing of 7.0% against the DLP, he will need to also make DVDs to try to save his seat on elections day - if it is ever called anytime in this sixth year of rule.

Given what can only be considered as PM Stuart denying Barbadians the right to exercise their democratic freedom within five years from the date of last elections, it is clear that there is discontent within the DLP, as every MP and candidate appears to be "brekkin fuh themselves."

Anytime an incumbent candidate is in a statistical position in which Sinckler finds himself, he must be very worried about his political future.

I am sure the BLP will deploy massive resources in support of its candidate, Gregory Nicholls, as statistically, Sinckler's seat is the easiest to win.

The recent CADRES Polls that traditionally uses a +/- 5% margin of error, makes Sinckler's St Michael North West seat the most vulnerable. With his leadership popularity falling from last year, he must be only hoping that he can hold on for dear life and buck the trend.

While you were able to produced these booklets, why were you and your administration not able to produce any economic growth?Talking about what you have done after zero economic growth and double ratings down grades to junk status, you produced a booklet?
While you are at it, can you tell us the literacy rate in your district?
You produce a lot of what paddy shot at in a booklet, while Barbados continue to produce functional illiterates to the work force. Again Mr. Sinckler, what is the literacy rate in your district?

Who is paying for this? I hope it is not the council! I say action speaks louder than words and if at this late hour you need to be doing this then something surely must be wrong. At this stage the party's National manifesto should be the place for this type of add- even it it means putting in a segment from each constuency, it must be cheaper than this; except maybe you have money to burn

I have no problem with Mr. Sinckler doing this. Perhaps the rest of them should follow suit. Give account of their stewardship over the past five years. Should make for interesting (or non-existent) reading.

Seems like the Minister is looking out for himself. Forget about the party.
