Church things moved out

Preparation for the demolition of the abandoned St Joseph Parish Church commenced on Wednesday with the removal of the organ and the pulpit from the Horse Hill property.
Church officials, including Archdeacon Eric Lynch, were on hand to see items removed from the church, which should be reduced to rubble sometime in September.
Rector Errington Massiah and the congregation were forced to leave the more than a century-old building in June last year, because the structure had developed some deep cracks and was deemed unsafe.
Services are being held at sister church St Aidan’s Anglican Church in the interim.
The deconsecration should take place shortly and the tendering for demolition should begin by mid-August. (MK)
