Kyle Mayers made a smash Wednesday night – in more than one way.
The powerful all-rounder topscored with 48 and took two cheap wickets and although his performance could not ensure victory for the BCA President’s XI against Trinidad and Tobago, he did leave Kensington Oval with a hefty repair bill.
One of his five sixes was hit with such awesome power that it tore a hole through one of the panes four floors up in the Cozier, Coppin & Short Media Centre, and left shards of glass raining down for several minutes.
Trinidad and Tobago eventually emerged victorious in the first of three Twenty20 matches, making 151-7 to overhaul the 147-5 posted by the President’s XI. (CC)
