I don’t always read your column but I do know that you often help many people in the community. I am hoping that I can help you to help someone now.
I have a pine child’s bed with storage drawers which I am willing to donate. It’s not a new bed since I’ve had it for a while.
I was hoping to be able to use it for my son who is now five years old. However, we do not have the room for it and I do not anticipate this situation changing anytime very soon.
The bed is currently stored in my garage, which is enclosed, and kept very clean. It can be cleaned with a good cleaning agent and wood polish. The actual bed is in very good condition and should not need repairs of any kind.
I am a single mother, myself, who has been through some very difficult times so far. I know what it is to be afraid of not making it, sometimes not knowing how I would get through even another day.
But thankfully, although my situation is not what I would like it to be, I know that I am still more fortunate than others out there who know what it feels like to be afraid of not having anywhere to go and going hungry so their children can eat.
In the past, I have seen letters from single mothers in terrible conditions, where they and their children have to sleep on the floor with rats and mice around.
I am hoping that this bed can go to a single mother who really needs it.
I figured you would be the best person to contact as you may know many. Hopefully this can make some single mother and her child have some comfort and hope, especially with Christmas not far off.
I would just need you to send someone to collect it as I don’t have any way of transporting it myself.
