The Barbados Labour Party has taken legal action against Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler for alleging that it will send home public sector workers if it regains power.

But Sinckler is insisting that thousands would indeed be laid off under that party’s privatization plan.

Telling party faithful at last night’s joint Democratic Labour Party meeting of the St George South and St Michael North-East constituencies that he was facing a case of defamation, he asked: “You know they got me in court? They say I defame them because I said that they will lay off 10 000 public workers.

“I don’t mind because I know in their portals, in their secret corners and meetings, they have cast up in their minds that apparently, somehow or the other, I stand between them and Bay Street. I am a problem for them, so they must attack me; but let them do it, because they shall be hanged by their own words.”

So how is this in the best interests of Barbadians? All the legal fees and time wasted could be better spent enhancing our economy. This lawsuit is supposed to be a distraction so the DLP/Sinckler cannot put full strength into campaigning? Is this lawsuit supposed to sully his reputation? Is this the proverbial grasp at straws?

Seriously. What is the point? The BLP cannot be this desperate.

"Seriously. What is the point? The BLP cannot be this desperate."

Seriously, the point is Owen Arthur wants to regain control of thd government. He misses the power and the limelight. Yes, the BLP can be this desperate. It would be so refreshing if politicians considered the good of the country and its people rather than what boosts their over-inflated egos.

Can the people who rule us sink any lower? How about focusing on the serious issues/problems confronting our nation? How about putting our minds together and seeking the Lord's guidance? How about all those who have been elected to serve the people do just that? Prayer-warrior Christians, let us be fervent in prayer for this nation of ours.

as long as certain persons write an article my post never make it. it seems like it is ok for Sinclker to speak about secret meetings and try to gain cheap political points, but it is a problem if those he slandered sue his tail. the reasoning is beyond me.
