A record-setting pace in the 13-14 breast stroke from Carifta medallist Luis-Sebastian Weekes helped Deighton to retake the swimming title from Collymore at the Harrison College Inter House meet at the Aquatic Centre yesterday.
Victor ludorum Weekes moved the record from 32.05 down to 31.68 seconds, while garnering 55 points as Deighton, who were champions in 2012, amassed 670 points to Collymore’s 573.
Another CARIFTA athlete, Danielle Titus was invincible in the 12 and Under division where she racked up 52 points but her house Armstrong finished on 419 points with track and field conquerors Dalton taking the cellar with 401.
Victrix Ludorum Titus set a new record in the 50-metre butterfly finishing in 31.68 seconds, Â smashing the old record of 32.05 seconds.
Other CARIFTA winners like Nkosi Dunwoody and Kent Mullin were also a few strokes ahead of the other swimmers in their respective divisions. Today, Queen’s College’s swimmers will take to the pool. (KB)
