Dismal start

Dismal, dull, disorganised and no drums.

Those were the words used by frustrated spectators to describe the start of this year’s Powerade Barbados Secondary Schools Athletic Championships (BSSAC).

The Frank Blackman Zone, the first off the blocks, began with the traditional playing of the National Anthem, the only music patrons heard at the National Stadium yesterday.

A quick overview of the Stadium showed the annual meet for the older athletes had fallen from grace, and unlike NAPSAC, left a lot to be desired. The numbers had dwindled considerably with only a handful of students present to support their fellow athletes. (RA)
