THE POLITICAL RETIREMENT of long-serving parliamentarian Hamilton Lashley may not have been officially announced, but the St Michael South-East branch of the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) has given its endorsement to a new candidate.

The newly elected executive has put forward Patrick Tannis as the man it wants to carry the DLP’s flag in the next general election, with Lashley reportedly signalling his interest in exiting the political arena.

Tannis, who has served as chairman of the St Michael South-East Constituency Council, has so far declined to either confirm or deny the development.

However, the SUNDAY SUN has been reliably informed that the new executive gave its endorsement at a recent branch meeting at which Lashley, the Member of Parliament, was not present.
