A Dominican man has been found guilty of murdering Barbadian Corey Rohan Poleon.
Sherman Webb was convicted of the capital crime at the Roseau High Court yesterday in the Commonwealth of Dominica, ending a week-long trial that had barely attracted interest in the island.
According to reports, the jury came to its unanimous verdict after only two hours of deliberation. Sentencing has been set for July 20.
Justice Birnie Stephenson-Brookes ordered a pre-sentencing report, as well as a psychological and psychiatric report to be conducted on the convicted man from Kingshall, a rural Dominica community. After perusal of those reports, the judge will determine whether to sentence Webb to death, or to life imprisonment.
