MIX 96.9 FM Dover Juniors have repeated as champions of the Inspire Sports/National Sports Council Under-13 Cricket Competition.
They clinched the title yesterday with a six-wicket win in the final over Fusionz Boutique Passage United at the Wanderers Club ground, Dayrells Road.
Needing 152 for victory, Dover got home with 12 balls to spare.
It was the second straight defeat in the final for the three-time winners.
Openers Jadan Jones with 36 and Jayden Forde, who made 19,  laid the foundation, posting 50 in 13.2 overs before Forde was caught and bowled off the leading edge by Micah Thornhill.
Jones and all-rounder Nyeem Young put together 54 in 10 overs for the second wicket. However, Jones was bowled off the inside edge attempting a big drive. His knock contained four fours off 54 deliveries and he finished with a tournament high 412 runs. He was later chosen as the competition’s Most Valuable Player.
Player of the Match Young, who played some lovely off-side shots, was run out in a mix-up with Joshua Bishop for a fine 38, including six fours, off 42 balls. Bishop played down the wrong line and was bowled by his opposite number Micah Thornhill.
After losing quick three wickets in successive overs, Kadeem Alleyne (18) and Camarie Boyce (14) steered Dover Juniors home with a crucial unbroken fifth-wicket stand of 32.
Earlier, Passage United were restricted to 151 for nine from their 35 overs. They suffered the early loss of Ajani Waterman, who was bowled by a yorker from Young without scoring in the fourth over.
Shakkae Marshall was the mainstay of the innings with a disciplined knock of 60. He faced 93 balls and struck eight fours.
Marshall and Kilano Brathwaite, who made 28, added 69 in 16.4 overs for the second wicket before a middle order collapse.
Kadeem Alleyne and fast bowler Jaden Edmund each picked up two wickets.
