Every cent!

THE GROUP REPRESENTING the interests of CLICO and British American Insurance Company (BAICO) policyholders says it isn’t accepting anything less than every cent owed to its members. And it will head to court to ensure this if it has to.
Despite pronouncements last week by Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) president Dr Warren Smith that it was unlikely all the money invested would be returned, the Barbados Investors and Policyholders Alliance (BIPA) said it remained resolute in its stance to recover it all.
That was articulated by chairperson June Fowler at BIPA’s first meeting for 2012, on Wednesday, and in a subsequent Press statement.
“Words recently quoted in the media, including ‘unlikely’ and ‘regrettably’, are simply not in the vocabulary of the Alliance,” the statement said. (DP)

While heading to court may ensure justice. The Al Barrack issue has proved that government is disrespectful of court decisions and the Clico and British American Insurance positions are in part due to the incompetence of the Supervisor of Insurance. Government has publicly told Barbadian that Clico was sound when in fact it was not. Government needs to be held accountable for the situation in both companies.
