Eyes for hubby only, can’t change now

Dear Christine,
I don’t suppose your column is exclusively for teenagers and the very young. I certainly hope not.
I am a woman in my mid-50s and my husband is the same age. He was always a ladies’ man. I never used to worry about it before, as I keep myself as smart as possible.
I always felt, however, that I would not do things like dyeing my hair, but grow old as gracefully as possible.
Recently, I noticed he is looking at the younger women and commenting very favourably. He swears he is not interested in them sexually and thinks I should be able to admire smart men.
My problem is that since I’ve been married I really don’t see anyone but my husband. They are just men and that’s all. I don’t see how I can go about changing now.
– Mrs J.
Dear Mrs J.,
Your husband just made a suggestion and you do not necessarily have to agree or disagree with him. I wouldn’t make a fuss out of what he said.
Perhaps your husband has no right to make the suggestion in any case, and you should not take him too seriously. Continue on as you have been and pay scant attention to his flirtatious way of life.
If you’re happy with your hair the way it is, keep it that way.
Grow old gracefully, as you wish. Maybe one day your husband will see the need to do the same.
– CHRISTINE
