With Tropical Storm Ernesto threatening to hit Barbados with high winds and drenching rain today, organizers of the annual Pic-O-De-Crop Finals have relocated the event from Kensington Oval to the Gymnasium at the Garfield Sobers Complex for tonight.
This follows a meeting at the Department of Emergency Management (DEM) with the Royal Barbados Police Force, the Barbados Fire Service, DEM and National Cultural Foundation (NCF) officials.
An NCF release said, “based on the advice about the expected weather system Tropical Storm Ernesto, a decision was made to shift the MQI Banks LIME Pic-O-de Crop Finals to the Garfield Sobers Gymnasium”. The show starts at 8 p.m and all valid tickets will be honoured.
Since Monday when the meteorological office issued a bulletin about the deteriorating weather, Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley indicated that contingency plans would be made.
