MORE THAN 1 000 PEOPLE from 30 companies have been trained in fire prevention, and that training has already been paying off.
Concerning the successes, fire officials reported that fires in two hotels were contained by members of staff before fire officers arrived.
This is a testament to the work done at the Training and Development Unit of the Barbados Fire Service, which came in for high praise from Chief Fire Officer Wilfred Marshall yesterday.
During his address at the parade, display and awards ceremony at the Arch Hall Fire Station, Marshall acknowledged the “vital role” played by the unit and commended the officers and trainers for their vision, persistence and competence in training fire officers and corporate Barbados. (YB)
