Five ready for Big & Beautiful

FIVE FULL-FIGURED women will grace the stage under the theme Unstoppable when the ninth edition of the Miss Big & Beautiful pageant gets under way at the Plantation Garden Theatre on October 21.

Along with the contestants making their much anticipated appearances in areas of talent, elegant and casual wear, patrons will be treated to a night of musical entertainment.

Here are profiles on the contestants:

Julia Mascoll
Age: 30
Hobbies: Horse racing, fine dining, cooking and designing clothes.
Asked why she entered the competition, Julia said: “I entered for three reasons. First, I wanted to be in some way associated with the Miss Big & Beautiful organization. It is a bold and positive movement for plus-size women.
“Secondly, to do fun stuff like the photo shoots and to appear on stage at The Plantation Theatre. Thirdly, to win the title of Miss Big & Beautiful.”

Katrina Blackman
Age: 24
Hobbies: Going to the beach, watching movies, socializing, cooking and making my own clothes.
Katrina said: “My reason for entering this competition is to win and prove to all full-figured ladies that we all can be divas, and that we should love ourselves no matter what.”

Tracy Collins
Age: 20
Hobbies: Dancing, listening to music, going to the beach and hairstyling.
“I entered this competition to become Miss Big & Beautiful. With my friendly and caring personality, I know I will be a great representative for all full-figured divas.”

Nahketa Harris
Age: 30
Hobbies: Reading and spending time with family and friends, but most of all spending time with her son.
“I entered this competition to win and to prove that big is beautiful.”

Mecheale Reaid
Age: 22
Hobbies: Meeting people, painting and listening to music.
“I joined the pageant because I am proud of my size and I wanted to give others the confidence to be proud of theirs. I have a big personality and a lot to offer.” (PR)
