‘Four’ hand

‘Four’ hand The stalled Four Seasons project. (FP)

By Maria Bradshaw | Mon, January 28, 2013 - 12:12 AM

The four-year-stalled multimillion-dollar Four Seasons project seems to be getting much needed new investment.

Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler told the DAILY NATION that Government would be making an announcement “very shortly” on the controversial project which has been stalled since 2009.

Asked for an update on the project which has already benefited from a Government-guaranteed $60 million loan in 2010, Sinckler stated: “The lawyers are doing their work, papers are being prepared and very soon you would hear new types of investments in that project.”

He added: “It would be good news particularly where Government’s new investment is concerned and where Government participation is concerned.”

After four years we expect to hear a last minute announcement before elections. And of course we will believe it this time because we were born on Jan 27th 2013!

The largess will be all over the place, the sudden photo ops of new houses being given away. Where were they all the time the people needed them? The sudden changing of residency to vote in their districts? The sudden appearance of investors in the Four Season white elephant, all such to they and burnish their images for elections.
Come on, the late Prime Minister David Thompson, said that the four season hotel construction would be up in 3 months, now tears gone by and you now all of a sudden found investors? Remember that this is the same person, who said that St. Vincent was to invest in this project, only for the Vincy government to state they do not know what he is talking about?
remember Ambassador Flying Fish said that he had an agreement with the Trinidadian government about fishing in their waters? Only to see Bajan fisher folk getting arrested with their boats and catch?
Yet these purveyors of myths and snake oil would like us to trust them with government again?
With regards to the Four Season Hotel the Attorney general Mr. Bratwaite was quote by this News Paper in New York, in a response to a question at a town hall meeting as stating that he was never in favour with government getting involved with this project from the beginning. Remember? He was soon raked over the coals by his administration. I wonder what he have to say now to Sinckler?
I never thought that in my lifetime, i would say that this administration is the worst that ever governed this country.
