Barbados has been listed as one of the ten most desirable island holiday destinations in the world.

The island has taken eighth place on the list of ten around the globe, identified by readers of the reputable travel magazine Condé Nast Traveller as their “favourite country to travel” and “the most beautiful”.

In the annual listing published in an online version of Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper, the top spot was taken by the Maldives, a group of around 1 200 small islands in the Indian Ocean, while the Mediterranean island of Malta with its Baroque palaces, churches and gardens, came in tenth.

In the MailOnline video showing scenes from each of the ten chosen islands, the description for Barbados was “lush tropical greenery, warm blue waters and golden sunlight.”

The commentary continued, “In Barbados you can spend the day on any number of white sandy beaches, eat some flying fish; drink some rum punch. In Barbados you can generally trade in the chaotic rush for the slow and easy, while soaking up the natural beauty of the sub-tropical island.”

Barbados is a haven for everything to do on a vacation – Harrison’s Cave has been a go-to spot for explorers for the past 300 years . . . scenic tours traverse the length and breadth of the island, bringing you to the enchanting Flower Forest, Welchman Hall Gully and the museums. There are the iconic chattel houses to the plantation great houses such as the famous St Nicholas Abbey and Sunbury Plantation House. Apart from the shopping, food and beaches, the nightlife is vibrant.

The list of the Top Ten Most Desirable Island Holiday Destinations are: The Maldives, The Greek Islands, Sicily, St Barth’s, The Balearic, The Seychelles, Capri, Barbados, Mauritius and Malta. (GC/NS)
