CHRIS GAYLE is set to wear West Indies colours for the first time in more than a year.
The controversial opening batsman has been named in a 15-man squad for the limited-overs series against England.
Gayle’s recall follows a meeting with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) on Sunday in which the two parties ironed out “residual issues”.
The stage had been set for a comeback after a CARICOM brokered agreement between Gayle and the WICB was reached more than a month ago.
It brings an end a long-standing dispute that was triggered by comments Gayle made in an interview with a Jamaican radio station after the 2011 World Cup last March.
Dwayne Bravo, who missed the Test series against England because of commitments in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has also been recalled and will fill the position as vice-captain in the Darren Sammy-led squad.
Lendl Simmons, who recently made a return to competitive cricket following injury sustained in March, is also in the squad.
Off-spinner Sunil Narine, fresh from an MVP performance in the IPL and a replacement in the Test squad for injured fast bowler Kemar Roach, is the only specialist spinner to gain selection.
Squad: Darren Sammy (captain) Dwayne Bravo (vice-captain), Tino Best, Darren Bravo, Johnson Charles, Fidel Edwards, Chris Gayle, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Denesh Ramdin, Ravi Rampaul, Andre Russell, Marlon Samuels, Lendl Simmons, Dwayne Smith. (HG)
