​AFTER GIVING YEARS of service to the Transport Board, a number of former workers are complaining they are now being “treated like dogs”.

​More than six months after being sent home as part of Government’s retrenchment programme, several of them are still to be paid their severance from the state-owned statutory corporation.

However, after attending a hastily called meeting yesterday morning with the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU), the disgruntled workers said they were told they would be paid in the near future.

According to one of the workers, they were told that following consultations with the National Insurance Scheme, the Transport Board and officials from the Ministry of Finance, the money would be released.

Close to 20 upset workers, some who had given as many as 37 years of service to the Transport Board, had assembled next door at the Police Sports Club from 9 a.m. in their latest attempt to get the monies owed to them.
