ST VINCENT’S PRIME MINISTER RALPH GONSALVES leaves for home tomorrow after a ten-day stay in Barbados following surgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) for a skin abscess.
“I am grateful for the medical attention and personal care I received during the two nights I spent at the QEH as well as the warm treatment during my period of recuperation at a beach resort on the East Coast of Barbados,” Gonsalves said in a brief interview yesterday with the DAILY NATION.
Gonsalves, 65, was on his way to participate at an UNCTAD [the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development] conference in Qatar when he was deemed too ill to travel. He had earlier experienced pain before leaving  St Vincent and the Grenadines, having earlier attended the Sixth Summit of the Americas in Colombia.
He is expected to provide details of his illness and treatment in Barbados to the Vincentian people in a live radio and television broadcast, possibly on Thursday.
