POLICE HAVE DETAINED a number of people for questioning following an early morning operation at the Party Stand which resulted in guns, drugs and other items being seized.

According to police public relations officer Inspector David Welch, officers led by members of the Anti-Gun Unit seized five handguns, a “significant amount of illegal drugs,” camouflage clothing, a ski mask and a number of scissors.

He said the fete being held at the Harbour Road, St Michael establishment was the final in a series relating to Crop Over 2014.

Welch said a number of juveniles were also detained in relation to their attendance at the event.
