Fists flew again. Now local basketball has itself another black eye.
First Works Warriors and Nicholls Baking Company Cougars are certain to face one of the biggest multiple-player suspensions in recent Premier League history after an all-out brawl that saw both benches cleared in Saturday’s night cap at the Wildey Gym.
It was the unsightly end to what was otherwise an enthralling encounter – the second time in 11 months a basketball game had ended prematurely due to a fracas, following last May’s now infamous UWI brawl.
And this coming in a contest that didn’t want for drama, with the game swinging back and forth before Warriors took a 68-62 lead with 2:38 remaining on a Corey McDonald three-pointer.
Apparently, it wasn’t the night’s last big blow.
