Happy at 100 and giving glory to God

Another Barbadian is now a treasured centenarian.
Yesterday, Bishop Cameron Boyce, of Mount View, St Lucy, celebrated this milestone with a visit from Acting Governor General Elliott Belgrave and St Lucy Member of Parliament Denis Kellman, and surrounded by family, friends and members of the Life And Light Apostolic Church, which he founded in 1953.
When asked what had contributed to his reaching 100 years, Boyce said: “I dedicated my life to God and His service at a young age and I left everything in His hands; and He has blessed me to have come to this age, and I thank Him.”
During the celebration the guest of honour momentarily gave up the spotlight when he took the time to pray for the Acting Governor General, who was moved to say in appreciation: “I feel good already.”
Boyce outlived his first wife of 59 years, Cecilia, who passed away in 1993. That union produced eight children – five boys and three girls – seven of whom are alive. They all reside overseas but made sure they were present for their dad’s big day.
He is also the proud grandfather of 23 and great-grandfather of 24.
Fortunate to have found love a second time, Boyce has been married to Pastor Joyce Boyce for 18 years and, according to his children, the two of them are happy and blessed in their marriage by the grace of God. (RL)
