With the four preliminaries out of the way, the semi-finals of the Community Dance Fest should be an exciting one when they begin on December 7 at The Alexandra School.
The annual event attracts the young and older, as well as the start-up dance group and the cream. They will all be dancing their feet off to compete in the finals at Kensington Oval on January 1 for the first prize money that has been doubled – $5 000.
In the preliminaries, showcasing dancehall and hip hop moves were Reactive Squad, last year’s winners Xtra Hype and crowd-pleasers Blue Tooth Breakers. And Demolition Squad, with their dance Demon, showed that practice does make perfect.
Praise Academy Of Dance had three groups doing different genres, Higher Level came with “something different”, and newcomers Bomb Squad enjoyed their dance Crop Over Madness to the hilt.
The members of I-Tek said they were practising for only two weeks, having been in different groups last year in the competition.
The Lawrence T. Gay Primary School Juniors also delighted the crowd at the Grazettes Resource Centre. (NS)
