Men and women in the Deacons and Black Rock communities are now better informed about HIV/AIDS and the condition of their health after accessing a range of information and health checks.
At a health fair held at the Deacons Hard Court last Saturday, individuals benefited from blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol checks, prostate specific antigen testing, HIV/AIDS testing. In addition, they got to work out in the exercise zone and sample health foods, products and local juices.
The fair was organized jointly by the Community Development Department, the Men’s Fellowship of the United Holy Church of America Barbados District, and the Deacons/Black Rock HIV/AIDS Education Committee.
Albert Parris, lead coordinator and member of the United Holy Church, said the aim was to promote health in the community and the church wanted to lead by example. (LK)
