BARBADOS IS RAMPING up its ability to detect any potential Ebola case entering the island, and intensifying the training of medical workers.
The Ministry of Health will soon be deploying medical infrared thermometers at ports of entry, as well as holding a simulation exercise to give workers a greater appreciation of what would be involved should a case of Ebola present itself.
This was revealed by Chief Medical Officer Dr Joy St John yesterday as she participated in Starcom Network’s Brass Tacks Sunday programme entitled Ebola: The Big Threat.
She said the ministry had the handheld thermometers on order, adding they would be used at the ports and other places depending on if an Ebola case was recorded.
