KEY PEOPLE in the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) last night urged members and supporters not to be “distracted” by talk of disunity in the ranks, while sending a strong message to Government that even with “two hands tied behind their back” and “one eye shut”, the party could do a better job of running the country.
Leader of the Opposition Mia Mottley steered clear of the “disunity” talk, but blasted Government MPs for repeatedly refusing to return phone calls and text messages from constituents seeking help and for making a promise of “tomorrow” to whatever assistance was sought when constituents finally reached them.
Addressing a meeting of Mottley’s St Michael North East constituency branch at the Lawrence T. Gay Memorial Primary School, former BLP Minister of Tourism Noel Lynch said: “There is no internal fighting in the Barbados Labour Party.”
He said all parties and other institutions had people with differences of opinion that sometimes emerged in the open.
