ETOBICOKE – Patrick Husbands continued his fine form with a double on Saturday’s race card at the Woodbine Racetrack that included the feature.
The ace Barbadian jockey prevailed aboard the 7-1, fourth-favourite Sweater Weather in a thrilling stretch battle with Flipcup, under Luis Contreras, to capture the CAN $125 000 (BDS$ 228 902) Eternal Search Stakes over 1 700 metres on the Polytrack.
The victory marked the second score around two-turns for the animal in two attempts, after she arrived at the race for Ontario-sired sophomore fillies from a third-place effort against older company when sprinting on June 29.
It was also the second stakes appearance for Sweater Weather who was defeated by a nose by Eternal Search rival On Rainbow Bridge in the 1,400-metre Lady Angela Stakes on June 7.
Husbands also landed the CAN$7 300 third race with the 6-5 favourite Kitten Candy over 1 200 metres on the Polytrack. The two wins keeps him third in the jockeys’ championship with 67 behind Contreras on 78 and Eurico Da Silva on 71.(CMC)
