COMMUNITY INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATIONS are in the air.
The annual festival, which climaxes in November with the Spirit Of The Nation Show, was launched at the Jackie Opel Amphitheatre, Cheapside, The City, last night.
In addition to being introduced to this year’s Parish Ambassadors, patrons were treated to performances by Sister Marshall, Sing Out Barbados, Young Dia, Shenise Marshall, Mr Dale, Adrian Clarke and others.
A key element of the ceremony was the presentation of the Jackie Opel Spouge Award, with this year’s recipient being The Sandpebbles.
