IT MATTERS TO MARIA: Two years in limbo

TWO YEARS AGO, the Lewis family of Hopewell, Christ Church, had a most unwelcome visitor at their front door.
A truck driven by a young man swerved off the road and landed in their patio damaging the front door, a flat screen television, a chain-link fence and gas meter.
The startled family ran out of their home to discover that the vehicle at their door had been in a collision with another vehicle before ending up on their property.
Though shocked and scared by the intruder, Floretta “Junie” Lewis was relieved to discover that both vehicles were adequately insured.
However, two years after the accident there have been no repairs to their home and Lewis and her husband Ken are totally fed up with the length of time it is taking.
“This is a big inconvenience,” Lewis said, as she pointed to the mangled fence, the broken uprights in the patio and her front door which still cannot be opened.
Recalling that horrifying day, Lewis said her three-year-old grandson had just run out of the house to go next door by her mother’s home when her daughter instinctively shouted for him to wait.
“The next thing I heard was a loud bang,” Lewis related.
